Framingham Parks Icon Will Have Field Named After Him
Barry Bograd served for decades as a park commissioner. A new field at Walsh Middle School will bear his name.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — An upgraded athletic field at Walsh Middle School will carry the name of a longtime Framingham park commissioner and Salute to Framingham awardee.
The renovated lower athletic field at Walsh will bear Barry Bograd's name following a dedication scheduled for June. The renaming of the field is nearly two years in the making.
Bograd died in 2018 after a battle with cancer. In August 2019, local residents and officials began an effort to name the renovated Walsh field after him. He had a hand in many notable parks efforts — everything from the redevelopment of the Bowditch complex to coaching local youth football.
