Framingham Truck-Mounted Mosquito Spraying Returns
The spraying will take place in the Saxonville area next week.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — Truck-mounted mosquito spraying will return to Framingham on Aug. 12, this time in neighborhoods north of the Mass Pike and west of Saxonville.
The spraying will take place between dusk and about 11:30 p.m., and the trucks will be applying a product called Anvil, which contains a pesticide called sumithrin that kills adult mosquitoes. Experts say the pesticide poses minimal risk to humans and pets, but Framingham is advising that residents avoid the spray truck.
Spraying will take place along Woodland Drive, Spruce Street, Anderson Road, Lowther Road, Debra Lane, Morse Road, Lockland Avenue, and Prospect Street.

The spraying comes as mosquito-born diseases begin to ramp up in Massachusetts.
This week, the first mosquitoes with Eastern equine encephalitis were detected in Middlesex County. The state's first human case of EEE was also detected this week in Middleborough. And on Thursday, mosquitoes in Needham tested positive for West Nile virus.
