Framingham Will Hold First Flag Day Celebration Since 2019

However, the city's usual Flag Day parade has been called off again in 2021.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — It's not a full return to the usual Flag Day festivities, but it's a start.

For Flag Day 2021, Framingham will host an in-person ceremony at the historic Framingham Centre, the first in-person event since the coronavirus pandemic began.

The usual Framingham Flag Day parade won't happen this year — but Mayor Yvonne Spicer said the event will likely return in 2022.

“Now that many COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, this ceremony is a great opportunity for the City to come together and celebrate the American flag, honor the men and women in the armed services and show our patriotism," Spicer said in a news release. "I look forward to celebrating next year, resuming our traditional Flag Day parade."

The 2021 Framingham Flag Day ceremony will be held June 14 at the village green. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m., and attendees will get to see a flag raising, and get to participate in a flag raising and performance of the National Anthem.
