Habitat For Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester Partners With MetroWest Medical Center to Support Veterans

A Bruins' themed playhouse will be donated to the children of a local Veteran on Friday afternoon.

Habitat for Humanity MetroWest Greater Worcester will partner with MetroWest Medical Center to support Veteran families in need.

Today, January 22, MetroWest Medical employees will participate in Project Playhouse sponsored by the hospital.

The all day event will be held at the Medical Arts Building in Framingham. The Bruins’ themed playhouse will then be donated to the children of a local Veteran as a way to say “thank you” for their service and to provide necessary funds for the Critical Home repair program and Veteran builds that Habitat MetroWest Greater Worcester manages.

“These programs are vital to help meet the needs of our Veteran Community as they transition back into civilian life, raise their families and age in place. We are grateful for MetroWest Medical Center’s leadership in sponsoring and building this playhouse. It truly makes a difference in the lifes of our Veterans. By engaging their employees, MWMC is helping to strengthen awareness of the need for decent affordable shelter, not just for our Veteran’s but for all people.” said Seth Jajliardo, Project Playhouse Program Manager.

The dedication of the playhouse will take place at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, when MetroWest Medical employees and leadership will unveil their creation to the selected family.

“Volunteers have joined together from MetroWest Medical Center to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s Project Playhouse in support of a local veteran family”, said Barbara Doyle, MetroWest Medical Center CEO. “Our MetroWest Medical Center employees live in the communities we serve, and this project is an opportunity for us to extend our care and compassion outside of our hospital walls.”

“MetroWest Medical Center should be commended for it’s commitment to the community. We especially want to thank Barbara Doyle and her team for leading the way in Framingham with this first Project Playhouse build and we look forward to a region-wide Project Playhouse build-a-thon to be held on the Framingham Centre Common in June.” said Bonnie Biocchi, MetroWest Director of Development for Habitat.
