UPDATED: Heavy Rain and Wind Wednesday for MetroWest

This system is likely to produce 1 to 2 inches of rain in MetroWest including Framingham.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - After the snow, sleet and freezing rain overnight Tuesday, heavy rains and damaging winds are in the forecast for Wednesday into Thursday.

Wednesday started with showers in the morning and now steady rain has moved in during the afternoon hours.

The area could see heavy downpours, which could cause localized street and poor drainage flooding.

The National Weather Services says heavy rain Wednesday night into Thursday is likely to produce 1 to 2 inches of rain throughout Massachusetts. Some isolated areas could see even higher amounts with 2.5 to 3 inches of rain possible, especially if thunderstorms develop.

Strong Southerly winds late Wednesday night into Thursday morning could cause isolated tree and power line damage, National Weather Service officials are saying. The timing for the strongest winds is from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Thursday morning.
