BURLINGTON, MA - The Framingham High boys hockey team topped Medford 4-0 Thursday night in the consolation game of the Cahoon Tournament in Burlington.

With the win the Flyers are now 14-2-4 overall, under head coach Paul Spear.

The Flyers opened the scoring early in the first period.

The play started off a face-off in the Flyers zone to the right of Flyer goaltender Owen Parker. Tyler Anes picked up the puck off the face off in the middle of the ice and moved it to Swennes down the right wing. Swennes carried the puck hard down the right wing boards, turning the Mustang defenseman and hitting Anes with a cross-ice pass. Anes cut toward the pass in front of the Medford goalie, deked and put the puck behind him for a 1-0 Flyer lead.

At 7:21 of the first period Swennes gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead. With Framingham short-handed, Swennes took a pass from Austan Bellefeuille and went in on a breakaway, beating Mustang goalie on a wrist shot. The first period ended 2-0.

Swennes continued to help the Flyers build on their lead.

With 12:22 left in the middle period Swennes tallied a power play goal. The Flyers won the puck off of the face-off to the right of the Mustang goalie, with Tyler Anes moving it to the point where Austan Bellefeuille moved in and shot. Swennes picked up the rebound and buried it for his second goal of the game. The second period ended 3-0 Flyers.

The third period opened with Flyers having to kill off multiple penalties including an extended 5-on-3 advantage for Medford. The Flyers regained control of the game and extended their lead to 4-0 with 6:44 left in the period. The Flyers mounted a strong forecheck pinning the Mustangs in their zone as defenseman Christian Seariac capitalized off a rebound of a Bellefeuille shot, Sam Barnett also assisting on the goal.

Flyers goalie Owen Parker was strong in net getting the shutout.

The Flyers will host St. John’s Prep on saturday at noon at Loring Arena.
