FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham's beer scene will return to full power on Friday.

The downtown Framingham Jack's Abby beer garden will open for the season with wood-fired pizza, seating for over 150 people and two dozen beers on tap. Jack's Abby has been closed to sit-down service since November due to coronavirus.

"The last year has been full of exceptional challenges, but also wonderful examples of our community supporting each other. We are so grateful for the support our business received and feel like today is a huge step towards a full recovery for Jack's Abby," co-owner Sam Hendler said in a news release. "We would not have made it here without our community stepping up and supporting us through it. We can't wait to pay it forward."

The opening comes one day after the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) loosened its mask guidelines. The CDC says it's OK for fully vaccinated people to be outdoors — and indoors in most cases — without a mask. Health officials say coronavirus does not spread as easily outdoors due to air circulation and sunlight.

Exhibit 'A' in Framingham opened its Morton Street beer garden in April. Scores of other local craft breweries have either opened beer gardens or offer outdoor seating. See the Patch guide to local beer gardens here.
