Jack's Abby Won't Open For Indoor Service With Coronavirus Rising
The Framingham brewer opened a beer garden over the summer, but that will soon close as the weather turns colder.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — One of the state's biggest craft brewers will switch back to take-out only service this winter as coronavirus cases rise, and winter weather chills outdoor service.
Framingham's Jack's Abby announced Monday it won't open its beer hall this winter. The brewer's beer garden opened in mid-June with seating for 150.
"It is with much regret that we have decided not to open the indoor beer hall as we transition out of the beer garden," a message from owners Jack, Sam and Eric Hendler said on the brewery website. "If you have been following our announcements, you have seen that we were working hard to create a safe, fun, and hospitable space to continue our service in the winter. After many difficult conversations, and in light of rising cases in Massachusetts, we do not feel comfortable operating indoor dining."

Gov. Charlie Baker on Monday also announced a new effort to limit social gatherings with cases rising noticeably around the state. Last week, daily case counts topped 1,000 for the first time since the first wave last spring. Baker is requiring all bars and restaurants to close at 9:30 p.m., although takeout service will be allowed later.
