Leak Detection Underway in Framingham

Work will begin this week and is anticipated to be completed in July.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Contractors will be working overnight in Framingham neighborhoods this month as they locate and address any leaks in the distribution system to reduce water loss.

The best time to perform this work is in the evening, this contractor may be in your neighborhood between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. or they may be working in the daytime, depending on the ambient noise in your area, a release from the town said.
The vehicles are clearly marked “Miles Leak Detection” and the workers are in bright, reflective clothing, tool belts, and large headsets, the release said.

This work will begin this week and it is anticipated to be completed in July, according to a release.

"With over 250 miles of water main and 17,000+ service connections in Framingham, it is important that we locate and address any leaks in the distribution system to reduce unaccounted for water loss and minimize lost revenue," a statemet from the town said.

The Water Department contracts with specialists in the field of leak detection, a release said. This year, the contractor is Miles Leak Detection. Their work includes placing specialized listening devices on hydrants and valve boxes to identify and locate any leaks for the Framingham Water Department to address, a release said.
