FRAMINGHAM, MA — A venerable Framingham Mediterranean restaurant is moving into a new location, helping to revitalize a shopping plaza destroyed in a 2017 fire.

Mediterranean Turkish Cuisine, which originally opened in 2008, recently moved from its location across from Saxonville Mills a few miles south to the former Old Path Village plaza at 969 Concord St.

A fire at Old Path Village in March 2017 destroyed 10 businesses, including J&M Diner (now located at 50 Worcester Road) and Trinity Optical (now at 655 Concord St.).

The plaza's owner, Brossi Brothers Limited Partnership, began renovations in July 2019, marketing the property to restaurants. The plaza will also be home to a Burn Boot Camp fitness center and a RE/MAX office.

Mediterranean Turkish Cuisine manager Miray Gokay, daughter of owners Ender and Funda Gokay, told the Board of License Commissioners on Nov. 2 that the restaurant will be focusing on takeout in the new location. Sit-down dining may be coming soon, depending on what happens with coronavirus, she said.

The license commission granted the restaurant a new victualler license, allowing it to begin service food.
