He was the co-founder of the John Andrew Mazie Mentoring Program, which began at Framingham High in 1998.

The foundation’s objective is to fulfill the legacy of John Andrew Mazie by recruiting and training adult volunteers to mentor and act as role models for high school students at-risk of not achieving their potential in school and beyond. To provide young people with the support they need to take control of their lives, set and achieve goals, prepare to apply to college or other post-secondary training, and achieve success.

The program has served more than 650 students from Framingham and Waltham High School who collectively and individually have emerged from our mentor and goal-oriented partnership with exceptional graduation rates and personal achievement outcomes.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara. Devoted father of Linda and her partner Terry Koff of Westwood, the late Karen Beth and the late John Andrew. Loving grandfather of Emily Mazie Bosco and Katie Ann Bosco of Westwood.

Services at Congregation Or Atid, Wayland, on January 31 at 1:30 p.m.

Observance following service at Lowell’s late residence until 5:00 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday evenings 7:00-9:00 p.m.
