Man Charged With Animal Cruelty: 'I'll Tie My Dog To the Bumper'
The man allegedly tried to dump his dog, tossed him in his truck bed, and said he'd tie it to the bumper and hit him with a sledgehammer.
FRAMINGHAM, MA—A Framingham man allegedly threatened to harm his pet when animal control would not take a dog he didn't want, tossing the dog in the bed of his truck, saying, "I don't care if he falls out."
Shortly before 9 a.m. on Oct. 7, officers were called to deal with an "undesirable" at Framingham Animal Control at 50 Western Ave., where Shawn Perry, 33, was arguing with animal control officers. Perry was "yelling loudly and acting in an aggressively-animated manner in the parking lot next to a busy road with motorists driving by witnessing the scene," according to police.
Animal Control officers refused to take the dog because of Perry's behavior, making Perry "extremely mad," said police. Perry, according to the report, picked up his dog and threw him violently into the bed of his truck, which was filled with tools. He said, according to police, that he "didn't care if the dog fell out of the back of his truck as he was driving."

Perry also told police that he would leave the dog tied to his bumper and drag him down the road, and began to tie the dog to the bumper of his vehicle, according to the report. When officers warned Perry he would be charged, Perry responded that he would just "hit the dog with a sledgehammer."
Shawn Perry, 33 (at the time), Centennial Place, Framingham, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty, disorderly conduct.
