FRAMINGHAM, MA — A Boston-area chain of brew pubs has closed its Framingham location after shutting down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Framingham Beer Works location, 345 Cochituate Road, is closed permanently, according to the Boston Restaurant Talk blog. The Beer Works chain has four other locations — two in Boston, and one each in Hingham and Salem.

All the Beer Works locations closed temporarily on March 15 due to Gov. Charlie Baker's pandemic restrictions.

The Beer Works chain began in 1992 with a location near Fenway Park. The Framingham location opened in 2013, and recently — along with a Beer Works brewing operation in Lowell — brewed beer for the entire chain, according to Mass Brew Bros. The Framingham location also served food.

John Harvard's brew pub, located behind Beer Works in Shoppers World, is also still closed. Framingham's two craft brewers, Exhibit 'A' and Jack's Abby, have both reopened with new outdoor seating areas.
