Residents Extinguish House Fire with Garden Hose

Residents react quickly to a house fire.

Residents of a house on Willis Street used a garden hose and household extinguisher to put out a bathroom fire Sunday morning, according to fire officials.

"The occupants put the fire out. They were sitting in the living room and they saw a fan in the bathroom melting,” said Framingham Fire Department Deputy Chief Paul Barbieri of the fire that caused moderate damage. "It wasn’t as bad as it could have been if they weren’t home."

The fire department responded to the scene of the 10 a.m. fire on Willis Avenue and checked for hot spots and to ensure the fire had not spread, he said.
