UPDATED: Route 9 Still Closed in Natick; Mall Without Power

The major MetroWest road will be closed most of Thursday morning, and possibly into the afternoon.

Both lanes of Route 9 in Natick, near the Natick Mall, were closed Thursday morning after telephone poles and live wires fell on the major MetroWest highway during an overnight storm.

Reports have the repairs continuing all morning and possibly into the afternoon, according to police.

Also the Natick Mall has no power as of 9:45 a.m. Power is not expected back on until at least noon.

All lanes eastbound and westbound were closed at about 5 a.m.

Natick Police and Fire reported the lanes would be closed through the morning commute.

Drivers are being diverted onto Route 30 and Speen Street. There is no access to Route 9 from Speen Street, while repairs continue.

During the morning commute, there were huge traffic jams on many secondary roads, including Route 30, Route 126, Hartford Street and even Route 135.

Wayland Police also had Oak Street closed to Route 30 in natick, due to downed trees and wires, adding to the morning traffic jams.

There were reports of wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour with the overnight storm.

Both lanes are closed at 6:30 a.m., as crews work to remove the wires, according to Natick Fire.

Natick Police reporting BOTH lanes will be closed through the morning commute.

Eastbound Route 9 is closed, right after Jordan’s Furniture.

Drivers are being diverted to Route 30 and Speen Street. There is no access to Route 9 from Speen Street.

Speen Street is open in both directions, but no access to Route 9.
