Runners Set 4X200 Framingham High Relay Record at Conference Meet

The Framingham High boys indoor track team finished seventh at the Bay State Conference meet on Wednesday in Boston.

Runners Nick Benoit, Cam Klein, Chigozie Nna, and Matt Kimmelstiel set a Framingham High School record in the 4X200 relay during the Bay State Conference meet Wednesday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, said head coach Chris Collins.

The foursome ran a 1:35.43 minute relay to finish third in the Conference meet.

Overall, the Framingham High boys indoor track team finished seventh of out of 12 teams at the Conference meet.

The Flyers had a 2-4 record this season.

Senior Marc Umumbu finished third in the shot put at the Conference meet with a throw of 47-feet, 10.5 inches.

“That throw betters his state mark by almost 2 feet,” said Collins.

Senior Ben Kirchman finished second in the hurdles at the Conference meet. His 8.08 seconds is a personal record and betters his state seed time, said Collins.

Senior captain Paul Halberstadt finished fifth in both the hurdles and the high jump. He has qualified for states in both events, too. His 8.29 seconds in the hurdles was a personal record. His jump of 5-feet, 9-inches was also a personal record.

Senior captain Mike McDonald finished sixth in the mile at the Conference meet. His time of 4:34.07 minutes qualified him for states. Flyer Alex Lowry finished 14th and freshman Ben Burgess finished 21st out of 27 runners.

Senior Benoit finished 9th in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.90 seconds. It betters his state qualifying time, said Collins.

Senior Kevin Scranton qualified for states with his 6.92 second time in the dash. He finished 11th in the Conference.

Senior Chris Barone qualified for states with a 1:27.80 race in the 600-meter event.

Klein finished 10th in the 300-meter race with a time of 37.92 seconds.
