Senior Japanese Marathon Runner Could Only Utter 'Train' For Help

A man and woman from Framingham were flagged down by a runner needing help. They now wonder if he ever made it to Boston.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—Mario Alvarez and another woman were near the Boston Marathon route in Framingham when they were flagged down by a runner.

They found out very little. Only that his name is Toshimitsu Takahashi, he is from Japan and he is 73 years old.

He was so cold that he could barely speak, only murmuring "train" to Alvarez. Finding that there was a warming station at Keefe Tech, they suggested that.

"We know he was trying to get to Boston via the train, but nothing else," wrote Alvarez. "He is doing ok; he was taken to Metro West Medical Center Framingham Union Campus in the City of Framingham. He was very thankful when the safety staff at Keefe put his feet in warm water, he let out a huge 'Arigatōgozaimashita'... I hope he finds whomever he came to Boston with."
