SLIDESHOW: Flyers Claw Past Tigers For 1-0 Victory

On senior night, Framingham defeats Newton North. The Flyers are now 12-1-4 on the season.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham High boys hockey team avenged an early season loss to Newton North, defeating the Tigers 1-0 at Loring Arena Saturday.

The Flyers came out of the gate strong with a number of quality first period scoring opportunities and limiting any tiger offense.

The first period ended 0-0.

The second period featured up and down the ice hockey but neither team able to break the ice.

With 7:21 left in the third period the flyers broke the scoreless game.

Off a face off to right of the Newton north goaltender Tyler Anes chipped the puck down the boards to linemate Nathan Nichols. Nichols hit Scottie Swennes with a quick pass and Swennes’ quick release beat the Newton North goalie on his glove side for a 1-0 lead.

The Flyers played strong hockey for the remaining 4 minutes to hold on for the win.

Freshman Dominic Schiappa recorded the shut out with a strong performance in net.

The win improves the Flyers to 12-1-4, under head coach Paul Spear.

Last night’s game was senior night in which the graduating senior players and their families were recognized: Scottie Hall, Tyler Anes, Colton Chassie, and co-captains Christian Seariac and Jamie Brigham.
