Social Media, Technology Workshop For Middle School Parents

Fuller Middle School will host the event on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 7. Cameron and Walsh parents were also invited.

Founding president of the Massachusetts Chapter (ISC)² Bill Bowman will present a workshop for middle school parents Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Fuller Middle School. Starts at 7. Cameron and Walsh parents were also invited.

The presentation will include the following:

Often, the Digital Native’s parents do not fully understand the technology and the external forces. We need to educate ourselves and our children so we can all make good decisions online.

  • Know kids connect with other people – The supercomputer (i.e. smart phone) in her bag can bring huge efficiencies but also huge problems.
  • Beware anonymous activities, sexting, cyberbullying. – Know what apps your child has downloaded and is using.
  • Help kids make good choices – As adults, we need to be good role models for our children’s use of technology
  • Enhance your home environment – Online activities bring the outside world into our house. We need to have the tools to ensure the experience is positive.
