Spicer Names 3 To Framingham Board Of Health
The mayor has chosen the Framingham Board of Health members, choosing three out of nine applicants.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—Nine candidates vied for a spot on the Framingham Board of Health, and Mayor Yvonne Spicer has picked three.
Referring to all as eligible, out of the six women and three men, Spicer chose Gillian Carcia, Laura Housman and David Moore, M.D., to fill the spots on the board.
Spicer recommended that Carcia, who is assistant general counsel at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, serve one term. She holds a Juris Doctor from Duke University, a Master of Public Health from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Yale University. She is a health advocate combining legal work with a background in public health and public policy.

Housman's on tap to serve a three-year term. Holding an MBA and MPH from Boston University, she has been a member of the Board of Health for three years, most recently as chair.
"She is a collaborative member with results-proven experience in pharmaceutical, diagnostics, software and device commercialization, personalized medicine, strategic alliance program development, as well as business development in the healthcare, biotechnology and software technology industries," said Spicer in a statement. "Housman has expertise in oncology and women’s health therapeutic areas."

And dedicated member of the Board of Health, Moore, who has practiced medicine in MetroWest for many years, has been recommended to serve another two-year term. Moore graduated from Boston University School of Medicine and received his undergraduate degree from Colby. He's especially focused on the board's advocacy work on environmental justice issues in South Framingham.
The candidates were interviewed by municipal representatives from ElderAffairs, the Community and Economic Development Division, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Planning Board, the Public Health Department, as well as a representative from Human Resources.
To apply, the candidates had to live in the city, couldn't be on the city council and also, one member of the Board of Health must be a physician.
