The 16-year-old slipped underwater Wednesday night after using a rope to jump into the downtown pond, according to reports.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A 16-year-old drowned Wednesday evening at Learned Pond in downtown Framingham, according to reports.
The teen was pulled from the water just after 6 p.m., Framingham Deputy Chief Sean Riley told WCVB. Riley said the teen used a rope swing to jump into the water, and may not have been an experienced swimmer.
Learned Pond, located just north of Framingham's main downtown area, has a swimming beach, but it hasn't opened for the season yet, according to the parks department. Temperatures soared into the 90s on Wednesday.
