“When asked my pre-disposition on the issue I say I’m neither pro nor con on a city but will oppose any city model remotely similar to what the voters voted down in 1997.

I favor re-election/election for the entire city council all at once like the U.S. House of Representatives.”

While Butler supports increased public participation in local government; increased accountability and efficient operations she but does not believe that a city government is the only way to achieve this goal and suggests electing the Town Manager to bring accountability to the role. Butler believes the finger pointing between Town Meeting and the School Board when it comes to spending is unacceptable. Whatever model that comes out of the Charter Commission, she believes, must seek to resolve this issue once and for all.

“On Tuesday March 29, I hope Framingham voters will give me one of the nine votes they will cast to fill nine seats on the Charter Commission.”

Butler is a graduate of Framingham public schools and holds two law degrees from Boston University School of Law. She represents disabled veterans and their families before the VA and federal appeals court.
