Video: Ashland Firefighter Pulls Fawn From Drain Pipe
Ashland Lt. David Iarussi came to the rescue of the young deer on Monday morning.
ASHLAND, MA — A small rescue turned into a pretty big deal in Ashland on Monday morning.
The fire department and the animal control officer were called to drainage pipe along Main Street on a report that a fawn was trapped inside.
Ashland Fire Department Lt. David Iarussi used a 6-foot hook to pull the fawn out of the concrete pipe. Iarussi and Animal Control Officer Dona Walsh brought the young deer to the town shelter for medical treatment.

Ashland officials are on quite a roll with animal rescues. Last week, police and a public works employee freed a raccoon who had his head stuck in a sewer grate.
