VIDEO: Saint Bridget Students Celebrate Country, Community
As part of National Catholic Schools Week, students at Saint Bridget held a musical performance on Wednesday.
FRAMINGHAM, MA - Wednesday, many students at Saint Bridget School were wearing red, white, and blue, instead of their uniforms.
Students were invited to pay $1 and dress in “patriotic colors” as part of the Framingham school’s celebration of National Catholic Schools Week.
Monday, the PreK to grade 8 school celebrated community. They received a visit from David Blais, who talked about his campaign to end hunger in Framingham.

On Tuesday, the school held a football-themed spelling bee, as part of its celebration honoring “its students.”
One of the fifth grade classes was declared the winner, but a kindergarten class finished in second place.

Wednesday, the school celebrated the “country.” Students in PreK, kindergarten, first grade and second grade sang God Bless America and a couple of other songs during an assembly, in which Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin, State Rep. Chris Walsh, and former Saint Bridget School alumni State Rep. Tom sannicandro spoke and answered questions of students in grades 3-8.
The money paid not to wear a uniform on Wednesday will be donated to a Veteran’s charity.
National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States.
It starts began on Sunday, Jan. 31 and runs all week through February 6.
The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2016 is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.
Catholic schools, across America, typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members.
Today, Saint Bridget students will celebrate “vocations.”
Friday will be a focus on teachers, staff, the principal and volunteers in the school.
Saturday will be a focus on the school’s families.
