FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham High School Foundation will hold its annual Salute To Framingham event virtually on Thursday. The event is a major fundraiser for the foundation, but also a ceremony to spotlight contributions to education.

Here's more from a Framingham Public Schools press release:

In the spring of 2002, the Framingham Public Schools were facing substantial financial challenges. A group of Framingham High School parents organized the Framingham High School Foundation (FHSF) to ensure continuation of extracurricular activities, arts and athletics regardless of imposed budgetary restrictions. Since its inception, FHSF has successfully accomplished this mission through a variety of efforts, including building stronger alliances with the MetroWest community, reaching out to FHS alumni, and applying for grants.

To provide financial support for various extracurricular activities, the FHS Foundation fundraises through their website and with well-loved events such as the Holiday Marketplace and the annual Salute to Framingham.

Beginning as a vision over twenty-five years ago, the Salute To Framingham is the largest single fundraiser for FHS and has grown into one of Framingham’s most anticipated annual events, with an average of 600 people in attendance. Each year, individuals are honored for their outstanding commitment and service to Framingham’s youth. Over the years, the Salute program has been expanded to show appreciation to administrators, teachers and staff who make each day “special” in Framingham Public Schools. They also recognize graduating FHS Students who positively impact the school community.

All proceeds from ticket sales, program sponsors, and community donations are used to support activities, arts and athletics for FHS students through the Framingham High School Foundation. Financial support from the FHSF has paid for contest, conference, and program entry fees, art supplies, music instruments, theater curtain installation, technology needs for Flyer News, transportation for arts, athletics, or academics events, athletic uniforms, athletic equipment, practice fees and so much more. While this incredible, uplifting event usually takes place at the Sheraton Tara with a meal, awards speeches, and camaraderie amongst staff and community partner attendees, this year it will be held virtually. This is a wonderful opportunity to support the Framingham Public School community and to attend for free. The Framingham community is invited to attend via Zoom or to watch live on Facebook to join in the celebration.
