In New Hampshire Trump calls former Massachusetts Senator "a great guy" who is right out of "central casting," maybe for vice president

PORTSMOUTH, NH - New Hampshire first-in-the-nation Republican presidential primary candidate Donald Trump participated in Scott Brown’s “No BS Backyard BBQ” event in Portsmouth Saturday at the Toyota of Portsmouth dealership.

Trump told the former Massachusetts Senator – who lives in Rye now – that he would attend but only if he revealed if the Trump attendance was the largest he had put together in the series. At more than 1,000 in attendance, Brown confirmed it was the largest crowd, so far, for his candidate barbeque town halls.

Trump spoke for about 40-minutes and answered some questions.

At one point, while praising Brown as “a good man” who needed to get back to the Senate, a member of the crowd suggested he be Trump’s vice presidential candidate. The crowd then started chanting “VP!”

“Hey, that sounds like a good (idea),” Trump said while holding his thumb up in approval.

“And you know what? He’s central casting, look at that guy, he’s central casting,” Trump said, alluding to Brown’s looks, to applause in the room. “A great guy with a great wife and family.”

WCVB-TV interviewed Brown after the event and asked him about the comments by Trump that he should get back into politics and Brown said he was still engaged the process.

“I’m helping others get involved,” Brown said. “I’m helping not only here in New Hampshire but still in Massachusetts where I have some dear friends.”

The VP discussion shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone since, before challenging – and losing – to U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH, in 2014, by about 16,000 votes, he was floated as a possible presidential candidate and flirted with the idea by making trips to Iowa.
