Wrestler Pablo Ogata Wins State Championship

The high school junior is Framingham's 24th state champion. Lamas finished third. Tolson and Ramos finished sixth for the Flyers.

Framingham High wrestler Pablo Ogata was crowned state champion in the 132 pound weight in the Division 1 state wrestling championships at Brockton High on Saturday.

Ogata, a junior, is Framingham High’s 24th state champion.

Ogata defeated Methuen’s Matt Cabezas in the finals, in a 7-1 decision.

He defeated the #1 seeded wrestler in the state Griffin Murray of Chelmsford in the semifinals 12-7.

Next up for Ogata is the all-state championship next weekend at Reading High.

Overall, the Flyers finished tied for eighth place in the state championship out of 4 dozen teams. They were tied with Billerica and Franklin. All three teams scored 67 points.

Chelmsford won the title with 161 points.

Framingham wrestler Marlen Lamas finished third at the Division 1 Championships in the 152 pound weight. He missed the finals by losing to a Haverhill wrestler, but won third place by defeating a wrestler from New Bedford.

Framingham’s Joe Tolson finished sixth at 106 pounds, as did Mike Ramos in the 220 pound weight class.

The top six wrestlers in each class qualified for the all-state championships.
