'Yes for Fuller!' Initiative Launched In Framingham

A question is on the special Framingham ballot in December regarding building a new middle school.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—There's a new initiative created by Framingham parents, educators and community members to advocate the building of a new Fuller Middle School, a question that will appear on Framingham's mid-term election ballot.

"Yes For Fuller!" was launched this week, an initiative the was created to "educate, engage and encourage" the community to vote yes on the ballot on Dec. 11. Voting yes would secure millions of dollars of state funding in order to replace the aging Fuller Middle School with a new building.

“A strong community requires quality public education to succeed and grow,” said Donna Kilcoyne Orthoefer, King Elementary School parent and chair of Yes for Fuller!, in a statement. “The Yes for Fuller!group is inspired by our next generation of Framingham residents who will be part of the vibrant economic future for decades to come.”

“Approving this project that has been thoughtfully vetted is the right thing to do fiscally and educationally,” said Adam Blumer a teacher and father in the district, as well as the former Chair of the Framingham School Committee, in a statement. “I encourage all to continue to learn about this project and vote yes to invest in our children.”

The planning for the new facility is in its final phase, heading into the design, cost and timeline.
