Suspect, Victim ID'd In Fatal Malden Shooting

Police are seeking the public's help in locating 30-year-old Brian Butler, who has been charged with murder.

MALDEN, MA — Police are seeking the public's help in finding the suspect in a fatal shooting in Malden Tuesday morning.

The Middlesex District Attorney's office said 30-year-old Erin Fitzgibbon, of Everett, was shot during a robbery at a Fairmont Street home. Officers were called to the scene around 7:17 a.m. and found her with a gunshot wound to the head.

Fitzgibbon was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she later died.

Authorities identified the suspect as 30-year-old Brian Butler. Butler is known to the residents of the home and fled the scene after shooting Fitzgibbon, the DA's office said. He is described as 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes and several distinct tattoos.

Butler's last known address is in Everett. A warrant has been issued for his arrest on charges of murder, armed home invasion, armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm and possession of a loaded firearm.

Anyone with information about Butler's whereabouts should not attempt to approach him but should instead immediately call Malden Police at 781-397-7171.
