Chamber to Host Halloween Trick-or-Treat Event in Malden

Here are five things to know on Thursday, Oct. 31 in Malden:

1. The Malden Chamber of Commerce will host its 10th annual Halloween Trick or Treat in Malden Square from 3-5 p.m. Thursday for kids ages 10 years and younger.

2. It is expected to be cloudy on Thursday, with highs around 63 during the day and a nighttime low of about 60, according to the forecast for Malden on Weather.com. There is a 30 percent chance of rain during the day, and a 60 percent chance of precipitation at night, the site adds.

3. Preschool Storytime is set for 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday at Malden Public Library in the Children's and Program Rooms, according to an event posting on Malden Patch.

4. There will be a Pumpkin Carving Night at Dockside Restaurant at Riverview from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, according to an event posting on Malden Patch.

5. In case you missed it, an "overheated" dryer led to a basement fire at a Medford Street home in Malden on Tuesday night.
