Chief Molis Sworn In, Officers Promoted
The city honored new police chief Kevin Molis and the promotion of several officers during a city hall ceremony Monday.
There's a new sher- er, chief, in town.
Malden Police Chief Kevin Molis was sworn into office during a Monday afternoon ceremony at city hall. He was joined by other officers, whose promotions in the department's reorganization were also honored.
Captain Glenn Cronin, Lieutenant Margaret MacDonald, Lieutenant Trish Bailey, Lieutenant Robert Dietz, Sergeant Michael Giordano, Sergeant Peter Mitchell and Sergeant Jason Froio were officially sworn in by the Honorable Lee G. Johnson, First Justice of the Malden District Court.

Captain Paul Hopkins, also promoted, was unable to attend the ceremony.
“Protect and serve is not just a slogan to Kevin, but a way of life," Mayor Gary Christenson told attendees. "From embracing Malden’s diversity, to walking the neighborhoods, to working with our youth, he has been and is fully prepared to lead the Malden Police Department forward.”

Molis said he hoped to bring his “love of tradition, love of city, love of department and love of cops" to the corner office.
