City Forms New Economic Advisory Committee, Seeks Volunteers
Would you like to lend a helping hand to the city's economic development?

City Hall is seeking six volunteers for a 12-member Advisory Committee charged with developing a strategic plan for the local economy.
The committee will be comprised of six Malden residents and six area professionals, and chaired by Malden Redevelopment Authority Assistant Director Deborah Burke.
Interested residents are encouraged to fill out an application and submit their resumes for consideration from the City’s website, www.cityofmalden.org.

“With the creation of this Advisory Committee, we are signaling the beginning of a new awareness of Malden and what we have to offer in this 21st Century economy,” Mayor Christenson wrote in an announcement.
“We can enhance Malden’s business climate, ensure the fiscal health of the City, and support economic growth in a manner consistent with the City’s character.”

Professional members of the Advisory Committee will be Matt Preotle of Preotle Lane Associates, Steve Nohrden of Burgess Properties, Dr. Elissa Weitzman of Harvard Medical School, Mark Flores of Brookline Bank, and Craig D’Entremont of Malden who has ten years of managing state and federal programs.
After drafting an assessment of present conditions, the committee will be charged with developing a plan that:
• Supports investment in Malden that creates new jobs
• Enhances commercial districts to create quality shopping and dining experiences
• Cultivates an entrepreneurial and academic environment that fosters innovation
• Encourages activities that attract visitors and conventioneers
