Daytime Route 1 Closures Start Thursday

SAUGUS, MA — Guardrail work will shut down the right lane at various points along both sides of Route 1 in Saugus starting Thursday, Jan. 21. Closures will be in place on weekdays during the day until Friday, Jan. 29.

Closures will occur during the following times:

• Route 1 northbound lane closures will occur from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Route 1 southbound lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The work is part of a $12.2 million project to improve the pavement and related infrastructure on Route 1 in Saugus.

Signs, police details and advance message boards will be in place. The work schedule is weather dependent and subject to change without notice. Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution.
