Fire crews responded to a two-alarm attic fire at 9 Almont St. around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, with firefighters knocking the blaze down about twenty minutes later.Â
Four children and eight adults were displaced from the two family home, according to the Red Cross.Â
Deputy Fire Chief Leonard Dunn said the incident remains under investigation, but that smoke detectors were either not present or malfunctioning upon his department's arrival.Â
Dunn said a resident started screaming and alerting other residents after waking up from the heat of the fire.Â
