Fire at Vacant Home Remains Under Investigation
The fire was the fifth for the Malden Fire Department in just a week-and-a-half.

Malden Firefighters responded to a two-alarm porch fire Monday morning at 426 Bryant St., a vacant home with a history of vagrants congregating on the property.Â
Witnesses reported "heavy fire" showing from the backyard porch of a three-story dwelling around 12:30 a.m.Â
The bulk of the fire was knocked down by 12:45 a.m.
"Firefighters did a quick search of the building to make sure no one was (inside)," Deputy Chief Leonard Dunn said.Â
Malden companies were assisted by Revere, Everett and Medford. One Malden firefighter suffered an eye injury in the blaze.Â
Both the Malden Fire Department and State Police Fire Investigation Unit are both investigating the case.Â
The fire was the fifth for Malden in the past week-and-a-half.Â
