First Snow Not Enough To Trigger Malden Parking Restrictions
City officials say winter parking restrictions will be implemented after the first "winter event" of the season.
MALDEN, MA — The city's winter parking restrictions are on hold for now, officials said. The season's first snowfall Sunday did not dump enough snow on the area to warrant implementing the parking rules.
Officials called it pretty early, as the region was not expected to get hit hard. Malden got about 2 inches of snow overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
Despite getting a second round of snow Monday night, which was enough to cancel school, officials said they can continue to plow the roads without enacting the winter parking rules. The restrictions will go into effect during the first significant "winter event" of the year.

The city alternates street parking depending on which year the winter starts. This year, the season starts in an odd-numbered year (2019), so parking will be allowed on the odd side of the street.
