MALDEN, MA — Animal Control Officer Kevin Alkins escorted a family of swans to the Malden River Wednesday.

Alkins received word that the swans, who had been living at Forestdale Cemetery, were returning to their original nesting place in the river.

He escorted the parents and their chick as they made their way from Linden Avenue to Washington Street, over Exchange and across Route 60, at times stopping traffic for them.
