HBO Filming TV Pilot In Malden Thursday

MALDEN, MA — HBO set up shop in Maplewood Square Wednesday to shoot a pilot about cook and TV personality Julia Child. Filming will take place 7 a.m. to noon Thursday, resulting in parking restrictions on Maplewood Street, Webster Street, Salem Street and Lebanon Street during that time, the city said.

Filming will center around the Maplewood Meat Market, iHeartMedia reported. Maplewood Street will be closed from Salem to Webster, with local access allowed through Webster Street, during the shoot.

The pilot will star Sarah Lancashire of BBC's "Happy Valley" in the titular role and David Hyde Pierce as Julia's husband, Paul Child. Written by Daniel Goldfarb and directed by Charles McDougall, the series is based on the life of Julia Child and her pioneering cooking show "The French Chef."
