Historic Malden Document On Display At Mass. State House

State Senator Jason Lewis wanted Beacon Hill to celebrate Malden, and now it does.

A piece of Malden History - or at least a replica of said piece - has arrived to stay at the Massachusetts State House.

A blog post from the City of Malden explains that State Senator Jason Lewis sought to put something Malden-ish on display at the Beacon Street institution. Malden Mayor Gary Christenson came through with a reprint of the “Instructions of the Inhabitants of Malden, Massachusetts, to Representatives in Congress.”

The document - in which denizens of Ye Ole Malden unanimously voted to sever ties with England in 1776 - predates the Declaration of Independence by approximately a month.
