HyRead, a new Chinese ebooks platform

Malden Public Library is very excited to announce the launch of HyRead, Taiwan’s most popular library e-reading platform. Malden is the first library in Massachusetts offering this service to residents. Currently, there are more than 100 titles in traditional and simplified Chinese characters with wide topics for adults and children. More books are coming. Anyone with a Malden library card can access it and borrow for reading online or downloading to cell phones, tablets, and personal computers.

There are some great features with this platform. After the ebook gets checked out, if it is in epub format, it can be switched to audiobook mode to listen. Also, books in simplified characters can be switched to traditional characters with just one click away. The text layout direction can also be toggled between horizontal or vertical.
