ICYMI: Malden Native Named Red Sox Bench Coach
Gary DiSarcina spent three seasons on the Angels' coaching staff and managed two Sox minor league teams.
MALDEN, MA – A Malden native is the newest addition to the Red Sox coaching staff.
The team on Friday named Gary DiSarcina their bench coach. DiSarcina comes to the team after three seasons as a coach for the Angels.
Prior to his coaching career in Los Angeles, he played for the Angels for 12 seasons and managed both Single A Lowell and Triple A Pawtucket for the Red Sox.

DiSarcina was the starting shortstop for the Angels from 1992-98 and was named to the American League All-Star team in 1995. He finished his playing career with the PawSox in 2002.
DiSarcina was born in Malden but raised in Billerica. He attended UMass-Amherst before being drafted by the Angels in 1988.
