Malden-Based Food Delivery Service Permanently Closes

The Foodery shut down this month after seven years, citing the coronavirus pandemic as the cause of the closure.

MALDEN, MA — A Boston-area food delivery service has shut down after seven years, citing the coronavirus pandemic as the cause of the closure. The Foodery, based in Malden, shut down April 5, according to a note on the company's website.

"Amid the COVID-19 crisis, it is no longer possible for us to continue operations. Our methods of preparation and delivery of our products inherently requires intense team collaboration and interaction with suppliers, purveyors and customers," the statement read in part. "The effect of this crisis on our team and operations has become too uncertain to continue accepting customer orders, so it is in the best interest of all of our stakeholders to close The Foodery."

The Foodery had a revolving menu of seasonal dishes and used locally sourced and organic ingredients, Boston Restaurant Talk reported.
