Malden Catholic Grad Awarded Scholarship by Teamsters Local 25

Malden Teen as well as 29 other children of union members earn scholarships to help launch their college experience.

Teamsters Local 25 awarded college scholarships worth $58,000 to 29 high school students during its May membership meeting. The scholarships were presented during a stirring ceremony outside the union hall in Charlestown, which included words of inspiration from Teamsters Local 25 President Sean O’Brien and special guest Boston City Councilor Michelle Wu, the Local 25 endorsed candidate for Mayor of Boston. Teamsters Local 25 also produced a social media video tribute honoring the college-bound seniors.

Gavin Kelly, a recent Malden Catholic High School graduate who will attend Bunker Hill Community College, is a recipient of the Teamsters Local 25 DBR Group, Inc. Scholarship Award. Gavin is the son of Ann Marie Kelly a Teamsters Local 25 member who works at the Local 25 Office in Charlestown.

“Teamsters Local 25 is proud to provide educational opportunities for the children of our members,” said Teamsters Local 25 President Sean M. O’Brien. “It’s important that we invest in our future and inspire youth to achieve. It was clear from speaking with the recipients during the ceremony that these kids are smart, engaged and hard-working. Our future looks bright and we can expect great things from the next generation.”
