Malden Challenger Team Heads To Little League World Series

MALDEN, MA — The Malden District 12 Challenger Team is in Williamsport, PA this weekend to represent the division at the annual Challenger Game at the Little League World Series. Alongside a team from Peterborough, Ontario, Malden's team will take the biggest little stage Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

The annual Challenger Game at the LLWS, a tradition since 2001, showcases the Challenger division for kids with physical and intellectual challenges. The team is led by Malden natives Marie Shea, who founded the Malden’s Challenger league in 2007, and Bernie Colbert. Shea was named the Red Sox Foundation’s 2015 Little League Volunteer of the Year.

The game starts at 10:30 a.m. and can be watched locally on WGBX 44.
