Malden Chamber of Commerce Hosting Wynn Boston Harbor Networking Session

"The fall was a good time," Jenna Coccimiglio, executive director of Malden Chamber of Commerce, told Patch about the event.

MALDEN, MA — The Malden Chamber of Commerce is hosting a networking and info session next month at the Irish American Club in Malden. The event is aimed at finding vendors for the upcoming Wynn Boston Harbor Casino and Resort in Everett.

"It's kind of open to everyone," Jenna Coccimiglio, executive director of Malden Chamber of Commerce, told Patch. "It gives everyone [a chance] to expand their pipeline for the third and fourth quarter."

The event, which takes places on Tuesday, September 27 from 8:30 - 10 a.m., is targeting business owners and professionals in Chelsea, East Boston, Everett, Lynn, Malden, Medford, Melrose and Revere. To RSVP, email info@maldenchamber.org or call 781-322-4500.

Wynn Resorts has been a member of the Malden Chamber of Commerce since March 2014.

The announcement of the Malden event comes the same week that Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone made it clear the city of Somerville will not pursue further legal action against the 33-acre Wynn development in Everett, which borders Somerville.

Curtatone said that he is still concerned about potential issues that could arise once Wynn Boston Harbor is up and running.

"Together with Wynn, the state, and other regional partners, we will continue to seek progress on traffic mitigation and mobility concerns and opportunities as they relate to the casino," Curtatone said in a statement Monday.

On August 3, Wynn Boston Harbor announced their intention to begin construction on the project after receiving their Chapter 91, from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), a vital license.

"After three years and one of the most thorough licensing and environmental review processes in the history of Massachusetts, Wynn Boston Harbor has its license in hand and will begin construction. Hiring and building starts tomorrow,” Robert DeSalvio, President of Wynn Boston Harbor, said in a statement on August 3.

Coccimiglio explained that the Malden Chamber of Commerce has been talking to Wynn Resorts for a year about putting together a networking event.

"The fall was a good time," she said.

"I want as many of our members as possible to be able to bin on vendor opportunities," Coccimiglio told Patch.

Coccimiglio went on to say that the event is great for people who aren't going to be vendors for the Wynn project, as well.
