Malden Firefighters Honored For Fellsmere Pond Ice Rescue
Firefighters saved a man's life after he fell through the ice while pulling his son from the water.

MALDEN, MA — Mayor Gary Christenson, Fire Chief Bill Sullivan and Fire Commissioner Emery Haskell acknowledged the firefighters who participated in a lifesaving rescue March 9 at Fellsmere Pond.
A man fell through the ice while pulling his son, who had fallen through while chasing a ball, out of the water. The man was unable to get out, city officials said.
Malden fire companies Car 2, Engine 3, Engine 1 and Ladder 3 responded to the scene and saved the man's life.

Christenson presented citations of recognition to Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Froio, Aid to Deputy Chief William McBrine, Lt. Nicholas Hooper, Firefighter Stephen Wishoski, Firefighter David Nylin, Capt. Steven O’Leary, Firefighter Nick Martorana, Firefighter Kerry Howe, Firefighter Robert Granana, Firefighter Tony Sullivan and Firefighter Michael Pasciuto.
