Malden Flag Retirement Ceremony June 18
There will be a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at the American Legion.

MALDEN, MA -Â Commander Larry Clark of the American Legion Post #69 in Malden has announced that there will be a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at the American Legion, 368 Pleasant Street. Legion members, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Veterans, students and volunteers are asked to arrive at 10 a.m. to prepare the flags for the retirement ceremony, a release said.
Malden High School students, Salemwood and Forestdale School students, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Project Triangle members, Veterans and many, many volunteers recently placed flags on Veterans’ graves in the city cemeteries in preparation for Memorial Day. During this time they also collected thousands of old and unserviceable flags, a release said. The flags are retired in a traditional ceremony held at the American Legion every year which promotes the proper respect for our United States flags by honorably disposing of old, worn and unserviceable flags, a release said.
