Malden Health Organization Volunteers to Run Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women
Tufts Health Plan to make a $10,000 donation to Malden-based Sharewood Project on race day.

Volunteers from Malden-based Sharewood Project have formed an all-female team and will run in the 37th annual Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women on Monday, Oct. 14, according to a press statement.
A tradition for generations of women, the race inspires those of all fitness levels to achieve their health and wellness goals and live an active life, reads the statement.
The Sharewood Project offers free, unscheduled health care to the medically underserved populations of the greater Boston area, including clinical, case management, and laboratory services, according to the statement.
“Sharewood runs on the good will and commitment of students and faculty at Tufts University School of Medicine. This generous donation from Tufts Health Plan will support our work to provide free health care to medically underserved populations in Greater Boston,” said Raina Milne, Tufts University medical student and Sharewood volunteer, in the statement. “The Tufts Health Plan 10K is one of my favorite races. It’s a powerful feeling to run through the streets of Boston with thousands of other women!”
On race day, Tufts Health Plan will give a $10,000 cash grant to the Sharewood Project to honor the organization’s efforts to promote the health and wellness of those who need it most, according to the statement.
The Sherwood Project is an health organization that is run by volunteer medical students and physicians affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine and Cambridge Health Alliance, with help from dental, nutrition and undergraduate students as well as those in the physician assistant program at Tufts University School of Medicine, according to the statement. The project operates under the supervision of Gregory Sawin, MD, assistant professor at Tufts University School of Medicine and program director of the Tufts Family Medicine Residency at Cambridge Health Alliance, the statement adds.
Other Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women participants include athletes, wheelchair racers, recreational runners and walkers. They will run through Boston’s Back Bay and along the Charles River to the cheers of thousands of supporters, according to the statement.
The event will also include various activities focused on supporting health and wellness that will be taking place on the Boston Common throughout the day, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, at the Health & Fitness Pavilion, there will be fitness clothing and accessories on display, samples of healthy foods, complimentary sports massages, health screenings and fitness demonstrations, the statement adds.
