Malden Leaders Mark Completion Of Improvements Near Oak Grove

The project included replacing traffic signals, installing wheelchair ramps and sidewalks, replacing traffic signals and more.

MALDEN, MA — Mayor Gary Christenson was joined by State Sen. Jason Lewis, State Reps. Steve Ultrino and Kate Lipper-Garabedian and city councilors Ryan O'Malley and Amanda Linehan last week to celebrate the completion of improvements at the Washington/Winter/Glenwood intersection near the Oak Grove MBTA stop.

The project included installation of granite curb, placement of ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps and sidewalks, replacement of traffic signals, installation of new pedestrian signals and push buttons, milling and paving and new pavement markings at the intersection of Washington, Winter and Glenwood streets and Grove Street.

The city identified the project as high priority, funding it in part with ride-share and 2020 Earmark money.

"I could not be more pleased with the result of this improvement," Mayor Gary Christenson said. "I'm grateful to the state delegation who worked with us on this project to achieve a much safer intersection."
