Malden Man, 19, Killed In I-93 Truck Rollover

TEWKSBURY, MA — A 19-year-old Malden man died after the box truck he was driving rolled over early Friday afternoon on I-93.

State police said it appeared the driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing the truck to Freightliner M2 truck to drift into the right guardrail, hit an electrical box and roll onto its side.

Simon Daponta, 19, was killed in the crash. His passengers, a 41-year-old Medford man and a 29-year-old Taunton man, were not injured.

The southbound lanes were cleared by 3:30.
